Q. What did Peter say to add to (supplement) faith, and why?
A. Wording varies slightly between versions, but according to the NKJV, “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.” 2 Peter 1:5-7
The “reason” for doing this is God has promised “you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (:4). Also, upon adding these qualities to your life “you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (:8). So get to adding!
